I overslept a little bit but still had a great breakfast with cereal, wafels and the likes first I went to Hertz to get the grey brother of my white car and I went to the Target superwarehouse for a car cover so I could sleep in the car at night. Got a tip from Keri to buy some clothes at the Rugged Wearhouse in Winston/Salem so that is my next stop. (I can also crash at her place if necessary).

Well I am not lucky with the cars, a quick 'ping' and the maintenance required light came on. Probably just because it needed an Oil Change and the phone assistance told me it needed one in the next 5.000 miles which I wouldn't reach with this car anyway. At the visitor center of Virginia they told me I wasn't allowed to stay in parking lots overnight but I doubt they'll even notice if I do.

The tip from Keri was great! Rugged Wearhouse was a heaven for the money minded shopper. I got some nice clothes for cheap prices (12$ for pants or sweater). In the local starbucks were I sat down for a coffee and the little internet things i needed done I met a very stressed out business woman who her partner didn't show up in time.
We exchanged stories and she could react some of her rage out which was nice to see.
TL 3.4
To cover some distance I went to the Blue Ridge Parkway which is a route along the tops of the mountains in the area. I wanted to just crash at a Walmart parking but the Parkway looked so interesting that I decided to ride it right away. It was truly beautiful to ride those windy bending roads in the dark and see beautiful valleys lit by lights. The route had amazing overlooks about every mile and most were crowded with romantic couples (probably doing things I didn't want to know about) in their cars. I found a little dirt sideroad going downhill to a valley and figured that would be a nice spot to stay for the night. Parked my car down in the valley near a little stream. Got my blanket and sleeping bag out, pulled down one of the windows a bit and I was ready for the night in my car in the middle of nowhere, unaware that I was going to have a huge adventure when I woke up in the morning.

Ohw before I forgot, I had dinner and a drink in a local restaurant along the way and it was filled with rednecky types with the long hair and shaved top. Country music was playing and they were drinking red eye (Beer with tomato Juice, not very nice if you ask me). I had the worst fatty Chilly Cheese Fries ever but also loads of fun talking to the people at the bar. Both the old woman left of me and the black fellow on the right of me were unemployed (recently fired) and were arguing about temp jobs and how they were too sucky to do. I just sad in the middle and nodded a lot trying not to sound our dutch system like too much of a heaven. Great fun and a nice look into the culture.
