TL 5.1
Time: All day
I had a great sleep out, well for me anyway the girls might find 10am still a bit early. We checked out what we could to this day and they were both more then willing to show me around a bit. Ofcourse I wanted to see *the mall* the part of Washington that has all the great monuments located around a single great park.
The first order of the day was to find a parking space, we figured it would be possible being Sunday and rather quiet, well it was very difficult instead. Luckily Shawn came up with the smart idea to park in a side-road of the mall strip and that worked like a charm. The parking garage ended up being only 10 bucks so quite a nice deal for the entire day. The walking began and we moved to Congress Building to get the necessary shot of me in front of it :D. On the way Shawn had to check out the cotton in the garden, not a good way to fight the stereotypes! But in all good fun of course!

We went inside the Smithsonian National History Museum and I got to watch the real Blue Hope Diamond in action! It was amazing to see this world famous and priceless diamond from up close! They also had some very nice diamonds, gems and opals that were probably worth more then all the money I will ever have cumulated. We also got to see a lot of bones from both animals and humans, enough bones actually to last me a lifetime but it was still interesting and entertaining. On the way to the next sightseeing spot we ate a bit of popcorn and fed the pigeons so they could crap all around the nice popcorn ladies cart. (And she was still nice enough to offer to fill up the bag of popcorn!) Shawn had to go to work and took a subway train. I hope I didn't get you into any trouble with all the free food you gave me!!). Me and Isabelle walked a bit more and more and more and more! It was quiet the workout and I hope you didn't have any muscle pain the day after! I got too see all the important and recognizable sites like the Lincoln memorial (God, he talked a lot!), the Washington monument (what was that for again?), mirror lake, Vietnam memorial and all the other beautiful buildings around there!

At the White House we got interviewed by a student film maker about the war in Iraq and the amount of fear in America after 9/11. That was very funny, but I think the dancing Panda will get more video-time then our answers :D
After this amazing long walk I was deadly tired from this day and the exhausting adventures in the mountains and we decided to just watch a movie and chill a bit. During the night the pictures from her travel to Peru came out and I showed her my roadtrip pictures so far.

This was a great Couchsurfing experience, mostly thanks to my great hosts and their friends and I will definitely be part of this great community and try to share my experiences back in the Netherlands!

PS. I got to load up all my electronics and wash myself which is always nice while on the road.
